Day 7: Last Day on Moorea

Whats up chat! My name is Jadyn and Im a third year Biochemistry major, here to bring you our update on the last day of our research in Mo’orea!

I started working on a mini side project where I used the instrument pCO2-to-go to try and fully saturate a seawater sample to reach atmospheric pCO2. In the end the experiment had inconclusive results and raised more questions regarding how the instrument is accurately reading the pCO2 of the seawater sample. Overall for the last day, myself and many others worked on collecting our final samples, characterizing our data, and developing project presentations.

Towards the end of the day many of us took time to simply appreciate where we were and the experiences we had throughout the week on the island. After our research projects on the island were coming to an end, we ended the night with some group pilates, a nice sunset swim, and dinner around the table.

As I packed up our instrument, I was less sad that my time on the island was ending but rather happy that it happened and the knowledge I had gained, and I look forward to the time I will spend on Tetiaroa and the knowledge I will gain there.
